Looks like a roadside bomb found in Iraq may contain the nerve agent sarin — the weapon Saddam used to kill thousands of Kurds in the 1980s. Our military is conducting further tests. Is this the WMD smoking gun we've been looking for? Or is it too early to tell?
Sarin stash: Smoking gun or just one?
A sample of your responses:
Sarin and mustard gas in Iraq? Why is this news except to the deaf or blind? If we would simply look to the graves of thousands, maybe millions, of dead Iraqis or listen to the stories of those maimed and crippled by the Saddam regime that information is glaring and blaring.
Obviously Iraq once had a chemical weapons program. The fact that an old weapon has been discovered, though, does in no way excuse the administration's reckless pursuit of war in Iraq.
The evidence is now insufficient to make this call .... Whether under the control of nature or humans, we must battle all weapons of mass destruction wherever we find them.
For all those liberals who said there were NO WMDs: I guess you had bad intelligence and you should all resign from office. You purposely misled us just to gain political advantage.
What was found may have been one old shell or bomb, but you can bet there is more where that one came from .... I have never for a second believed that Saddam had destroyed all the chemical weapons he had in Iraq. Just wish we had found it all first.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. More and more will be found as time goes on, especially when we get closer to the November election.
Smoking gun or just one, or maybe just one smoking gun. Does Dr. Seuss write all the questions of the day?
It was always there it was just a matter of finding it. There's plenty more — the whole world knows it.
Smoking gun for sure. They don't make this stuff one shell at a time.
The new finding of the "WMD" was merely ounces and not the thousands of tons that they supposedly possessed, which justified us going to war.
One old bomb that did not work is no indication that we have found the tip of the weapons of mass destruction iceberg.
