Worldwide box office saved Tom Cruise's "The Last Samurai" (search) from becoming a box office dud -- it was huge in Japan. Now that it's new on DVD this week, you can decide for yourself. It's an expensive "B" movie, according to critical ratings at Yahoo.com. Ken Watanabe steals the show and deserved that Oscar nomination.
Next, what's scarier about Halle Berry than her choice in men? It was supposed to be the thriller "Gothika." (search) "Laughably witless," according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. And that was one of the good reviews. Halle wakes up in a mental institution and may or may not have killed something besides her career. Better use that Oscar as a hood ornament, Halle, just to remind people. On the other hand, with your driving record ... By the way, on the cover of the DVD it looks like she's desperately trying to get out of the movie.
Finally, Scarlett Johansson is the "Girl with a Pearl Earring." (search) This beautiful looking film about a famous oil painting moves about as quickly as one.
