The turbulent Iraqi city of Fallujah (search) was mostly free of gunfire today in the second day of a truce. Meanwhile in southern Iraq the U.S. military said it's open to a negotiated solution in its showdown with a radical Shiite cleric.

We'll have the latest on the situation in Iraq including a report on the status civilians who have been taken hostage, particularly Mississippian Thomas Hamill (search).
