Updated

"Kill Bill: Vol. 1" out on DVD this week and "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" hits theaters this weekend in today's Foxlight.

There's only one new major DVD release this week and that's fine with me, because it's one of my favorite movies of last year and will go down as a modern classic.

It's Quentin Tarantino's fourth film, which seem crazy -- he needs to work more -- and of course it's "Kill Bill: Vol. 1." (search) The slash fest that nods to so many genres stars Uma Thurman as the wronged gal who's out for uber revenge. Also on board are Vivica A. Fox, Daryl Hannah and Lucy Liu. It's incredible to think any of these people could get into the kind of shape to pull any of this off. And you'll never leave a loved one who is in a come in a hospital after seeing this.

Now the even better news. Here's a peek at "Kill Bill: Vol. 2," (search) which is out this weekend and is also an instant classic. It's a different movie with all the same people. Plus, we actually get to see Bill -- David Carradine -- in an amazing turn that was first offered to Warren Beatty. I can't imagine Dick Tracy being able to take Kung Fu in a bar fight.

I'm glad it was made into two movies. And here's a surprise without spoiling anything: If you thought "Vol: 1" and "Vol: 2" were cut right down the middle like I did, Quentin either shot some more stuff or found some scenes on the cutting-room floor, because it's two hours and 15 minutes. Buy or rent "Vol: 1" and watch it right before you go see "Vol: 2." I can't imagine a better day. But then, I'm weird.
