Scott Peterson's (search) lawyers said Tuesday they may ask to move the murder trial a second time, telling a judge that too many prospective jurors have already concluded their client is guilty.
Attorney Mark Geragos (search) cited an initial look at the 23-page questionnaire that about 600 potential jurors have filled out since jury selection began last week.
"The prejudgment rate ... is at a level where the court needs to take some action," Geragos said.
Geragos said he was considering at least three requests, including asking for a change of venue or asking the judge to reconsider an earlier decision not to select two juries -- one for the guilt-or-innocence phase, one for the penalty phase.
He said the defense may also may ask for additional peremptory challenges, which allow one side or other to dismiss unwanted potential jurors without having to give a reason.
The defense and prosecution each have 20 chances to dismiss potential jurors before a panel of 12 jurors and six alternates is seated.
Peterson, 31, could get the death penalty if convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son. Authorities said he killed her and dumped her body in San Francisco Bay (search) because he was having an affair.
Earlier in the case, a judge moved the trial from Modesto to Redwood City after ruling that an impartial jury could not be seated in the couple's hometown.
