Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Western Iraq Ambush

Guerrillas ambushed a military convoy in western Iraq (searchnear the border with Syria, killing two American soldiers, the military said Sunday.

The attackers opened fire on the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (searchtask force with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades near the border town of Husaybah (search), 180 miles northwest of Baghdad, the statement said.

One soldier was also wounded in the attack.

The deaths brought to 79 the number of U.S. soldiers to die in Iraq during November. It has been the bloodiest month for coalition forces since the war began in March.
