NEW YORK – "The New Tom Green Show" (search) has ceased production, ending MTV's experiment with a nightly, late-night talk show.
Green and executive producer Burt Dubrow were informed late last week that MTV (search) had decided to pull the plug.
MTV confirmed the decision yesterday, based on declining ratings.
"The New Tom Green Show" premiered to critical acclaim on June 23 and drew an average 889,000 viewers nightly at midnight on MTV in its first weeks, according to Nielsen figures.
But ratings dropped in July (774,000 viewers), August (580,000 viewers) and September (355,000).
Green will likely seek to place the show elsewhere.
Options include cable and broadcast channels as well as syndication, Dubrow said.
Green was unavailable for comment.
