NEW YORK – Paul Hogan, (search) the beloved Aussie butler from Joe Millionaire, is putting in a two-day stint as a soap star.
The debonair Hogan begins his role on One Life to Live playing - what else? - a butler, starting Thursday.
Hogan will play Wesley, who is hired to replace Nigel (Peter Bartlett (search)), the longtime butler of family patriarch Asa Buchanan (Phil Carey (search)). Buchanan dumps Nigel when he learns that the butler is in love with his ex-wife.
Wesley turns out to be a little too good at his job -- unlike Nigel he doesn't look the other way when Buchanan drinks a little too much. Ultimately, Buchanan reconciles with Nigel, Wesley is dumped and life goes on.
Hogan filmed his part back on May 7 and is getting ready to appear in Joe Millionaire 2 (search), which is set to begin filming soon, but says he thinks he could play other roles on TV.
"If they want a butler, I'm quite happy to do it, but I could try my hand at anything," he says. "I'm a relative newcomer to acting. Up until six months ago I was quite happy estate managing and butlering.
"What I'm doing now is a great way to earn a living. However, one has to be realistic, and whether I can parlay this into a long term career, I'm not sure at this stage," he says.
