David E. Kelley has axed four cast members from Fox's Boston Public (search) — just days after cutting six cast members from his ABC show, The Practice (search).

Boston Public co-stars Joey McIntyre, China Shavers, Jon Abrahams and Cara DeLizia were all told they weren't coming back, according to trade reports. Each actor had been with the show only one season.

McIntyre, who had his first taste of fame as a member of New Kids on the Block, played a teacher, as did Abrahams and DeLizia. Shavers played Principal Harper's daughter.

Last week, Kelley fired Dylan McDermott, Lara Flynn Boyle, Marla Sokoloff, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Kelli Williams and Chyler Leigh from The Practice for "economic" reasons — after ABC said it would only pay about $3 million an episode for the show (down from the $6.5 million it had been paying).

Unlike The Practice, however, cast changes in Boston Public aren't out of the ordinary, and this latest round of changes aren't being attributed to economic reasons.

Both shows, coincidentally, are based in Boston, The Practice in a law firm and Boston Public in a high school.

A spokeswoman for Kelley said he had no statement concerning the Boston Public changes.

Boston Public, entering its fourth season, will move from Monday to Friday this fall.
