GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – A Palestinian suicide bomber riding a bicycle blew himself up near an Israeli jeep in the Gaza Strip (search) on Monday, lightly injuring three soldiers.
The Islamic militant group Hamas (search) claimed responsibility, identifying the assailant as 19-year-old Shadi Nabaheen from the Boureij refugee camp.
Monday's attack was the fourth bombing by Hamas since Saturday evening. In all, nine Israelis have been killed and 23 wounded in the four blasts.
Palestinian bombers are usually on foot when blowing themselves up, but there have been two other bombers who rode a bicycle to their targets. In one such blast in 1998, three soldiers were killed in an attack on an army post in Gaza.
