A school district has benched two coaches and more than a dozen high school baseball players as it investigates whether a parent took the athletes to a strip club during the team's spring break trip to Florida.

The coaches and players from Massapequa High School (search) on Long Island will remain off the team until the investigation is complete, said Robert Schilling, the district's executive director for administration and human resources.

The school district got an anonymous phone call last weekend about possible conduct violations during the school-sanctioned trip to Cocoa Beach (search), Fla., Schilling said Thursday.

Assistant coach Tom Sheedy said 15 players were involved, but that coaches didn't hear about it until two days later.

"A parent escorted a group of players into the club," Sheedy said. "This parent was buying drinks and who knows what else."

The parent was not identified.
