What do peace demonstrators, Martin Luther King and anti-abortion protesters have in common?

Washington, D.C., this week.

They protest there.

They rant there.

They pray there.

They hold hands and celebrate there.

I don't always agree with everything I see there. But I am grateful that all voices are heard there.

When people rip this country apart, I always like to show them our largely peaceful demonstrations. Our right to hear all our voices.

You don't see these kinds of things in all countries.

When was the last time you saw an anti-Saddam march in Iraq? Or a down-with-Castro rally in Havana?

I'll save you the trouble. You didn't and you won't. But you'll see it here.

The yelling, the screaming, the chanting over wars, racism and abortion.

Some of it nice -- a lot of it nasty. But all of it American.

We have much to complain about in this country. I'm just grateful the freedom to air those complaints isn't one of them.
