NEW YORK – ABC News has paid at least $175,000 for the rights to a British documentary that includes a video diary made by Princess Di's former butler, Paul Burrell, sources said yesterday.
Along with the documentary, called Diana's Rock, the network has also landed the first sit-down interview Burrell will do with U.S. media.
ABC News officials would not confirm how much the network paid for the documentary -- and would not say if Burrell would receive a cut from the documentary sale.
Yesterday, reports stated that ABC had paid between $300,000 and $350,000 for the air rights to Diana's Rock.
Diana's Rock will air as part of a special edition of 20/20 on Monday night. The show will also include the Burrell interview conducted yesterday. The footage will also appear all next week on Good Morning America.
