Comedian Colin Quinn will get two weeks to test a satiric show on Comedy Central that's being designed as a companion piece to The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.

The half-hour series, not yet titled, will feature Quinn and guests joking about issues of the day. It will include some outside antics, such as man-on-the-street interviews, the trade newspaper Variety reported Thursday.

The on-air test will start Dec. 9.

After the eighth and final show runs Dec. 19, the cable network will assess its progress and decide whether to change the format or time slot, said programming executive Lauren Corrao.

Quinn was the host of the Weekend Update segment of NBC's Saturday Night Live between 1998 and 2000.
