FOX presents In Defense of America: An O’Reilly Factor Special.
This is the first in a series of four specials for the network, hosted by FOX News anchor Bill O’Reilly.
The special examines the motivating factors of the men and women in the United States military who are willing to unselfishly risk life or limb for their country. In Defense of America provides viewers with eight harrowing first-hand accounts from unsung heroes who, while bravely fighting for our country, escaped certain death in recent military conflicts.
"In these times, tens of thousands of young men and women are going into harm’s way to defend the ideals and principles of the United States of America," said O’Reilly. "Through their words, we hope to show viewers what inspires them to place country above self."
Highlights of the show include never-before-heard stories of a CIA officer who assisted and aided Afghanistan fighters in their war against the Soviet Union; an Army Ranger caught in the Mogadishu, Somalia ambush, now known as "Blackhawk Down;" a Navy SEAL who participated in a covert operation to divert thousands of Iraqi troops during the Gulf War enabling United States ground forces to enter Kuwait; and an A-10 pilot, who was shot down behind enemy lines, imprisoned and tortured by Iraqi forces.
Also included In Defense of America is an account from a Navy enlisted man, who helped rescue his fellow sailors when the U.S.S. Cole was attacked. In addition, the special gives viewers an inside look at the United States' humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan, as it follows two U.S. Air Force loadmasters, who oversee the delivery of relief-supplies to starving Afghan refugees and citizens.
The O'Reilly Factor debuted five years ago when the Fox News Channel was launched. Recently, anchor Bill O'Reilly, was dubbed "the new king of cable news" by TV Guide.
O'Reilly is also a two-time New York Times best-selling author. His latest book, The No Spin Zone: Confrontations with the Powerful and Famous in America is currently on the New York Times bestseller list.
