Kelly Ripa: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Kelly Ripa has a new drama in her life: Should she stay or leave All My Children now that she has a highly-rated spot with Regis Philbin?

Ripa, 32, is in negotiations with the ABC soap opera, on which she has played the turbulent Hayley Santos since she was a teenager. But insiders say she hasn't yet decided if she will re-sign with the popular soap once her contract expires this fall.

Ripa, a mother of two, has had to juggle both AMC and Live with Regis & Kelly since she joined the morning show over a year ago.

She has helped boost Live's ratings  especially among younger women since the departure of Kathie Lee Gifford and her place on the show seems secure.

Ripa still maintains a substantial role on AMC and most days must shuttles back and forth between both shows.

Luckily, the two studios are located just across Columbus Avenue from each other on the Upper West Side of Manhattan near Lincoln Center  so the commute is easy.

Still, the wear and tear of performing on two shows at the same time could affect her work on Live, which is clearly the more important job.

It is also thought that if Ripa gives up the daily responsibility of a soap opera, she would be freed up for more prime-time appearances.

Last season, for instance, she guest-starred on an episode of the David Letterman-produced drama Ed.

Ripa's agent was unavailable for comment.
