NEW YORK – Bill Cosby, who played loving dad Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show and wrote several best-selling books about fatherhood and family, is blasting The Osbournes — and doesn't spare Ozzy kids Jack and Kelly in his angry outburst.
"Let me tell you something about Ozzy Osbourne. First of all, you [the media] need to stop with this Ozzy Osbourne. This is a sad family, it is a sad case," Cosby tells tonight's Access Hollywood.
"The children are sad and the parents are sad. And this is not entertainment.
"I'm telling you that [the show] is a sad thing — it's like laughing at Tiny Tim," Cosby says, alluding to the late, falsetto-voiced singer. "It is the kind of entertainment that you look at, but you wouldn't want in your home. And I don't like to look at things like that."
The Osbourne family had no comment, but their spokeswoman did say: "I'm not surprised that there's another celebrity jumping on the Osbournes bandwagon to get publicity for themselves."
Cosby himself made headlines in 1997, when a young woman named Autumn Jackson claimed Cosby was her biological father.
Cosby acknowledged having an affair with Jackson's mother — Shawn Thompson Upshaw — but insisted he was not Jackson's father, even though he had paid her mother $40,000 a year to keep the affair a secret and had set up a trust fund for Autumn Jackson.
Jackson was eventually found guilty of trying to extort $40 million from Cosby and was sentenced to 26 months in prison.
