The Osbournes, MTV's lovable hard-rock TV family, showed a mellow side yesterday, announcing that white-shoe crooner Pat Boone will sing an Ozzy Osbourne classic on a new album of the family's faves.

Boone will do "Crazy Train" on a compilation of songs by performers the Osbournes like. It's due out next month.

Ozzy's daughter, Kelly, will sing Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach." The album will also include Eric Clapton singing "Wonderful Tonight."

"It's a record we feel will appeal to the masses," said Ozzy's wife, Sharon.

Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne announced the album yesterday at Sony's studios in Hells Kitchen.

During the conference, the Osbournes hit back at rocker Ted Nugent, who reportedly has called the popularity of the family's reality-TV series "an indictment to the soullessness of modern man."

"Tell him to [bleep] off," said Kelly.
