WASHINGTON – The State Department warned Americans on Thursday to avoid travel to Venezuela because of violent protests stemming from a three-day general strike.
The department said in a statement the international airport in Caracas was still open but roads to airport could be blocked or closed.
Americans in Venezuela should monitor news broadcasts for further developments, the statement said.
The general strike has led to violent clashes between anti- and pro-government protesters.
