NEW YORK – Heartthrob Hugh Grant has snubbed a major movie role alongside Julia Roberts in an effort to defend the honor of his former gal pal Liz Hurley.
Grant — star of Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral — rejected an approach to star in the big-screen adaptation of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.
It seems Hurley has feuded for eight years with the book's author, Toby Young, according to London's Daily Telegraph.
Producers who approached Grant were unaware that Young and Hurley had been at loggerheads for years.
"I was surprised to hear that Elizabeth still bears a grudge over an incident that happened so long ago," Young told the newspaper.
