Harmonious as they might seem on MTV, members of Ozzy Osbourne's family were divided on the idea of having their lives filmed for a TV show.
As a result, Ozzy's eldest child, daughter Aimee, declined to participate in the making of The Osbournes.
Not only will she not be seen on the show, her existence has not even been acknowledged in the first four episodes of the show.
While long-time fans of Ozzy have long been aware that the stringy-haired heavy-metal rocker and his wife, Sharon, have three children, viewers who have only recently discovered the family on their self-titled MTV series have been under the impression that the Osbournes have just two kids — Kelly, 18, and Jack, 17.
But 19-year-old Aimee Osbourne — born Sept. 2, 1983 — is nowhere to be seen.
Her refusal to be involved in the making of The Osbournes was disclosed Friday evening when the four other Osbournes appeared together on The Tonight Show on NBC.
"Who is the most normal member of this family?" host Jay Leno asked Ozzy, 53, and Sharon, 46.
"It can't be me," replied Ozzy. "I mean, we're all crazy."
Added Sharon, "I think Aimee — the one daughter that didn't want to do it — she's the normal one."
Sharon then revealed that Aimee actually moved out of the house for the five months in which the family shared their Beverly Hills mansion with MTV camera crews.
"She's like the normal girl on The Munsters, " Leno noted, referring to the character of Marilyn, played first by Beverly Owen and then Pat Priest, the blonde strait-laced daughter in a family of scary but lovable ghouls.
Agreed Sharon, "That's exactly what she is!"
Aimee might not be around for the TV show, but her parents didn't give the impression that she was in any way estranged from the rest of the family.
Sharon gives a further explanation of Aimee's absence on MTV's Web site, mtv.com, where fans of The Osbournes can see a photo of the missing Osbourne.
"She can't handle being around us lunatics all day while she's trying to start her career," says Mom of her daughter, who is reportedly interested in a music career.
With Aimee keeping a low profile, little is known about her. An Internet search reveals that she was rumored not too long ago to be linked romantically with Taylor Hanson, middle brother of the teen trio, The Hansons.
Meanwhile, in episode 5 (10:30 on MTV), out-of-shape Ozzy hits the gym to prepare for an upcoming concert tour.
