Mel Gibson, Josh Hartnett and the Queen of the Damned in the firey glare of The Foxlight.
What war hasn't Mel Gibson fought in at this point? He's up to Vietnam in We Were Soldiers. This is the part John Wayne would have played 30 years ago according to one critic. The film is based on a true story about the first big battle in that war. It has Greg Kinnear sneering as a helicopter pilot and Sam Elliott as the uber-macho cartoonish character that makes Gibson's overacting look sort of normal, according to other reviews.
Speaking of big battles, how would you like to be Josh Hartnett and give up sex for 40 Days and 40 Nights? I know, it sounds like it should be science fiction. But this is an attempt at comedy. And like Gibson, Hartnett could use a break from war action like Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down. But wasn't this a Seinfeld episode?
The only competition is last week's No. 1 Queen of the Damned. But if critics are right and it's not all that damned good, did everyone who wanted to see this already buy a ticket? We'll know Monday.
