This is from The Star —  a newspaper in Jordan referring to a speech Secretary of State Colin Powell gave at the University of Kentucky:

"U.S. Secretary of State Collin Powel's (sic) long-awaited policy speech on the Middle East was received like a drop of water on parched land. On the face of it, the Kentucky speech pretended to give something to everyone, but ended in not giving anything at all ... Mr. Powell was careful to balance his country's position and by doing so, the real issue got diluted — again."

In the speech, Secretary Powell outlined steps that the Israelis and Palestinians can take to bring about peace, like accepting each other's right to exist. He also confirmed America's commitment to the region.

And just for the record … the United States gives Jordan $ 428-million a year in aid, and that's not counting food contributions.
