SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Ellen Siminoff, senior vice president of entertainment and small business at Yahoo! Inc., announced Friday she is leaving the company to spend more time with her family.
Siminoff, who joined Yahoo six years ago, is responsible for several of the Internet company's properties, including Yahoo! Music, Yahoo! Classifieds and Yahoo! Small Business.
In a brief statement, Yahoo said Siminoff's decision was personal and she remains confident in the company moving forward. She will remain with Yahoo through the end of the year.
A spokeswoman declined to comment further on the departure.
On Thursday, Yahoo said it is trimming 400 jobs to save money and condensing 44 business units into six to create a more manageable corporate structure. The company has recently been trying to create more revenue streams and make itself less reliant on advertising.
It was Yahoo's second round of job cuts in its six-year history.
Before being named to her current position, Siminoff led Yahoo's corporate and business development activities and was responsible for negotiating strategic agreements, investments and partnerships.
Prior to joining Yahoo in 1996, Siminoff helped create and manage CareerPath.com and LATimes.com for the Los Angeles Times.
