The Oklahoma City Bombing: Fast Facts

On April 19, 1995, an explosion rocked the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

• Bombing was the deadliest domestic terrorism attack in U.S. history

• Bombing occurred at 9:02 a.m. local time

• Bomb destroyed the building and killed 168 people

• 19 children in the building's day-care center were killed

• A majority of the children had parents who were federal workers

• Murrah building housed office of Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms

• Building contained Social Security Administration office

• Building contained Housing and Urban Development office

• Veterans Affairs Department had office in Murrah building

• Secret Service and Drug Enforcement Agency had offices in Murrah building

• Bomb had been made with ammonium nitrate and fuel oil

• Bomb damaged other buildings dozens of blocks away

• Timothy J. McVeigh was indicted in the attack

• McVeigh's friend, Terry L. Nichols, was accused of constructing the bomb
