Recently deemed competent to stand trial, a Florida man pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of trying to enter President Bush's ranch with high-powered weapons last year.

John Michael Hughes, 30, of Navarre, Fla., was sentenced to six months in jail but has already served that time.

The charge of unlawful attempted entry of temporary residence or office of the president-elect carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Manske also fined Hughes $1,000.
