NEW YORK – Whitney Houston's brother Michael — his speech slurred, his eyes dilated, his teeth grinding — was busted in New Jersey with a small stash of drugs in his car after he was pulled over for cutting off another vehicle, police said.
Houston, 39, had 14 partially smoked joints, one small bag of cocaine and two bags of marijuana in a duffel bag in his rental 2002 Dodge Stratus when he was pulled over Wednesday night by two Fort Lee detectives, said Sgt. Tom Ottina.
Later, at the station house, Houston voluntarily handed over a third bag of marijuana that he took out of his shoe, the sergeant said.
Houston, of South Plainfield, was pulled over in front of 2165 Route 4 as he left a Holiday Inn parking lot, Ottina said.
He was stopped because "it was a merge and he failed to yield to traffic," said Fort Lee Detective Leonard Cottrell.
Houston was charged with criminal possession of cocaine, criminal possession of marijuana and with being under the influence of a controlled, dangerous substance, police said.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment yesterday, said his lawyer David Bauman.
