Mariah Carey is back on the street again.

The Grammy-winning singer is "under a doctor's care at an undisclosed location with her mother," after checking herself out of a Connecticut clinic, said Cyndi Berger, Carey's spokeswoman. 

"MC is feeling better," Berger told the Daily News Wednesday. Carey was being treated at the clinic after suffering "an emotional and physical breakdown" last month, she said.

Despite having had bandages on both wrists after going to an emergency room July 25, Carey has not attempted suicide, Berger said. She said Carey had broken some dishes and glasses.  

The 31-year-old singer canceled all public appearances, including  her scheduled show that would have headlines last week's MTV 20th birthday party.

The release of Carey's new movie, Glitter — in which she plays an aspiring singer has been pushed back a month and will now debut on Sept. 21, 20th Century Fox announced Monday.

Carey's new album, also titled Glitter, is scheduled for release Aug. 21.

Just before her hospitalization, Carey left two messages on her official Web site complaining of being overworked and getting too little attention from her new record label. She also made a surreal appearance on MTV's Total Request Live dressed in little more than a T-shirt and pushing an ice cream cart filled with Popsicles.

Carey also made a publicity appearance at a Long Island mall, where, after rambling comments to the crowd, her publicist took the microphone away to prevent the singer from speaking further.  

Carey's breakdown comes at a critical point in her 11-year career. She signed a multimillion-dollar contract with Virgin Records in April after leaving Columbia Records, where she got her start after dating, and later marrying, Columbia executive Tommy Mottola. The couple are now divorced. 

Her new single, "Loverboy," also failed to attract radio airplay and languished on the charts for weeks. However, after Virgin cut the single's price to 49 cents, it shot to the No. 2 position on last week's Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and enjoyed increased airplay.
