Talking Points: Milosevic to be Tried as a War Criminal

The Talking Points memo this evening:  Does anyone care  that the butcher Milosevic is going to be tried as a war criminal?  Well, I  do, and I congratulate the Bush administration and Senators McConnell and  Leahy for making this happen, because the only reason it did happen is that  America will give Yugoslavia $180 million this year alone in aid, and if  the Serbs had not extradited Milosevic to The Hague, we would not have  given the money.  

So as usual America has bought justice, but that's OK, because  Milosevic killed thousands of innocent people.  They're still digging up  the bodies.  

Here's what I said a year-and-a-half ago.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY:  Yeah, but what if they're slaughtering people within the  borders, as Milosevic was?

DANIELLE SREMAC, INSTITUTE FOR BALKAN STUDIES:  You know -- you know  that didn't happen.  I mean...

O'REILLY:  Yes, I do.  I don't know it didn't happen -- of course it  happened.  

SREMAC:  ... during the whole conflict...

(CROSSTALK)

O'REILLY:  I guarantee you.

SREMAC:  ... should be war crimes.

O'REILLY:  As my prediction was right a year and a half ago about his  demise, I guarantee you this man is going to stand trial, he's going to be  convicted of war crimes, and they're either going to hang him or he's going  to be in a cell the rest of his life where he belongs.

O'REILLY:  Now, many Americans have forgotten about the Balkan  conflict, but there are still U.S. troops over there.  In fact, a lot of  them watch The Factor every day, and they don't want to be there.  And the  only reason they are there is because of this killer, Milosevic.  

I believe he will spend the rest of his life in prison, as I said.   And that is as it should be.  The depressing thing is that we Americans  have to pay the Serbs all this money to do the right thing.  But that's the  world we live in.  It often takes money to get justice.  And that's the  memo.

Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

Time now for the "Most Ridiculous Item of the Day."  In San  Diego, some people are really fed up with rising utility bills.  So they  are fighting back against the power companies.

A good-sized crowd stormed the Pacific Gas and Electric Power Company  and demanded to pay their bills with pennies.  And it got a little heated,  pardon the pun.  And much energy was expended, pardon the pun.  The penny  protest was to remind the power company how some folks are really  struggling to pay their bills.

It might be ridiculous.  But so is this entire energy situation in the  Golden State.
