That juggernaught of a musical - Mel Brooks' The Producers - racked up 14 Drama Desk nominations yesterday, including Outstanding Musical.

It will square off against The Full Monty and three off-Broadway shows - Bat Boy, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin and Urinetown - for the award.

Unlike the Tonys, the Drama Desk does not distinguish between Broadway and off-Broadway shows.

The Producers was also nominated for its book, by Brooks and Tom Meehan, its direction and choreography, both by Susan Stroman, its sets, costumes and lighting.

Brooks was nominated for his lyrics but overlooked for his music.

Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick were both nominated for their performances in The Producers, as were Cady Huffman, Gary Beach and Roger Bart.

The nominees for Outstanding Play are Proof, Boy Gets Girl, Comic Potential, Lobby Hero, The Invention of Love and The Unexpected Man.

The nominees for Outstanding Revival of a Musical are 42nd Street, Bells Are Ringing, Follies and The Rocky Horror Show

Betrayal, The Best Man, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Richard II, The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe and Tiny Alice are the nominees for Outstanding Revival of a Play.

The awards will be presented May 20 at the Fiorello H. La Guardia High School for the Perfoming Arts at Lincoln Center.
