Pop Princesses Preparing To 'Duet'

Pop queen Madonna and pop tart Britney Spears have been singing each other's praises lately — and now they're ready to record a song together.

Spears has reportedly set aside a few days for a studio collaboration with Madonna in May, just ahead of the release of her third album.

"At this stage, we are not sure what the song will be or whose album it will appear on, but they both want to do it," a spokesman for Britney told a British newspaper.

The 42-year-old music goddess and the 18-year-old bubblegum princess have already formed a mutual admiration society, even though they're competing for a Grammy.

"I love Britney," the Material Missus gushed in the February edition of Elle. "I want to do nothing but support and praise her."

Madonna even admitted she's become obsessed with Britney T-shirts, wearing them to bed and sporting one at her concert at New York City's Roseland last year.

"I find it really irritating that everyone beats up on Britney," she said.

Britney is also smitten.

"She does what she likes and she doesn't care what anyone thinks," she said of Madonna. "She's like, 'This is me — you like me or you don't.'"
