Worldwide Terror Caution Alert Issued

Friday, September 26, 2003

WASHINGTON —  The State Department (search) reminded Americans Friday night that the risk of a terrorist attack against U.S. citizens remains unchanged after the anniversary of the Sept. 11 (searchterrorist attacks.

A new worldwide caution supersedes one that was issued on Sept. 10. At the time, the department was concerned that terrorists might observe the second anniversary of the attacks by staging another one.

A State Department official said there was no information to suggest that a terrorist attack was imminent.

"The U.S. government remains deeply concerned about the security of U.S. citizens overseas," the statement said.
