JERUSALEM —  The Israeli airline El Al (search) suspended flights to Kenya Saturday because of security concerns.

The United States and Britain issued travel advisories for Kenya last week after Kenyan authorities warned that Fazul Abdallah Mohammed (search), wanted in connection with the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, was planning another attack.

Mohammed has been indicted in the United States in connection with the Kenyan and Tanzanian bombings, which killed 231 people. He has also been connected to the failed rocket attack on an Israeli charter flight near Mombasa, Kenya, in November, and a parallel attack on an Israeli-owned resort hotel, also near Mombasa. Fourteen people died in the hotel attack.

In its advisory, the U.S. State Department (search) urged Americans to defer all non-essential travel to Kenya and said Americans in the country should consider leaving.

El Al flies to Nairobi once a week, on Tuesdays. In recent years, Kenya has become a popular attraction for Israeli tourists, especially the area north of Mombasa.
