BAGHDAD, Iraq  —  Three soldiers with the U.S. Army's V Corps were killed and three wounded Monday in two apparent accidents, U.S. Central Command said.

A grenade exploded at 4 p.m. at a checkpoint south of Baghdad, killing two soldiers and wounding two others who were working on a vehicle.

Monday morning, near Baghdad International Airport, a V Corps soldier was killed and another wounded in an apparently accidental weapons discharge.

Their names were withheld pending notification of relatives, and the incidents were under investigation, Central Command said in a statement from headquarters in Qatar.

The injured soldiers were taken to military facilities for treatment. Their conditions were not released.

Central Command said neither incident was combat related. It gave no other details.
