Tennessee Teen Baffles Doctors Crying Tears of Blood

Thursday, September 03, 2009

A Tennessee teen has baffled doctors by regularly shedding tears of blood.

Calvino Inman suffers bloody tears seeping from his eyes for up to an hour a day.

The 15-year-old is being teased at school for being "possessed" and doctors have been unable to diagnose his specific condition.

One theory is that Inman has a condition called haemolacria — literally meaning "bloody tears." The condition can be triggered by a tumor or even a bad case of conjunctivitis (pink eye).

Inman, of Rockwood, Tenn., said: "I feel it coming up, like a tear, sometimes it will burn."

His mother Tammy said: "I just truly want somebody to say they can help us."
