2 Minnesota Nurses Recognized for Saving Lives Outside of Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS — The Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis is recognizing two of its nurses for saving lives outside the hospital.
They're Annie Swanson and Mickey Hayes, who by coincidence both work in the hospital's gastrointestinal laboratory treating patients with stomach and intestinal problems.
In May, Swanson jumped over the seats at her niece's graduation ceremony at Drake University to perform CPR on man having a heart attack. He survived.
Earlier this year, Hayes was driving in Fridley when she saw a serious car crash. She could see into the wrecked car that the driver wasn't breathing, so she climbed through the broken rear window, opened his airway and helped him breath.
The driver also survived, and he says he has no doubt Hayes saved his life.
