Winston Is Back!

The vanquished former vice president made an appearance in the U.K. Tuesday to talk about the folk science of global warming.

Al Gore told the audience that with just a bit more political will, we can win the fight against global warming and the global warming monster: "Winston Churchill roused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilization in World War II. We have everything we need except political will, but political will is a renewable resource."

I think Al might actually be on to something for once in his life.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

WINSTON CHURCHILL: We shall fight down the beaches. We shall fight down those ending ground. We shall never surrender.

AL GORE, FORMER VICE PRESIDENT: There is the potential for the melting of ice in the Arctic to dramatically increase the absorption of heat.

CHURCHILL: I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.

GORE: Which contains as much carbon if turned by microbes into methane.

CHURCHILL: You ask, what is our policy? I will say it is to wage war by sea, land and air with all our might.

GORE: This is the one challenge that could completely end human civilization.

CHURCHILL: You ask what is our aim? I can only say one word. Victory.

You know, Al, I think that if you fine-tuned that message, you could really have something there.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VICE PRESIDENTJOE BIDEN: The poet Virgil said that the greatest wealth is health.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: I found that in my "Poetry for Dummies" book!

BIDEN: Well, we are here today to make our health care system healthy again.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: That's what usually happens when government intrudes on the private sector.

BIDEN: A strong commitment from these hospitals represented here and others will be a big part of making that happen.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: They don't have a choice in the matter, but let's give them a round of applause!

BIDEN: All around the country, the people that have health insurance still are struggling to pay their bills because they are under-insured or their out of pocket expenses are rising so rapidly, they have trouble keeping up.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: Just wait till they get the bill from Uncle Sam!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Wow, Joe, that was a pretty convincing speech, but I think you're going to have to ramp it up a few notches if you ever plan to get the American people on board.

Changing His Tune

Move over, John Kerry, it looks like President Obama has mastered the art of the flip-flop.

Remember when Senator Obama condemned the use of military commissions to try suspected terrorists? Well, guess what? They're still being used.

And who can forget Senator Obama complaining because cold-blooded terrorists were being held indefinitely at Gitmo? Well, a top attorney for the administration now says detainees can still be held indefinitely even if they are acquitted of all these charges.

Now this isn't going to win the president any popularity contests with his left-wing, radical, socialist, liberal friends, is it?

Uh-Oh Ohio!

And speaking of popularity contest, there is some bad news out of Ohio for Barack Obama. A new Quinnipiac Poll is showing that the president's poll numbers are fading fast in one of the most critical swing states in the country. In only two short months, Obama's approval rating has plunged eight points. His disapproval rating continues to rise and now stands at 44 percent.

If you keep wasting the taxpayers' dollars, Mr. President, this trend is likely to continue in the 49 other states.

Just a prediction.
