Monday, June 22, 2009

EVERETT, Wash.  —  A construction site in Snohomish County has turned into an archaeological dig that is turning up spear points and arrowheads nearly 9,000 years old.

State historic preservation officer Allyson Brooks told The Herald of Everett it's one of the most significant sites in the states.

A survey for a housing development in 2007 uncovered stone tools. A few small test digs found even more. Now the developer is working with county, tribal, state and federal authorities to protect the land.
