The following tables show soft money and hard money raised by the national political parties and their campaign committees.
Hard money refers to contributions limited to $1,000 per donor, and can be used to advocate the election or defeat of individual candidates. Soft money refers to donations of unlimited size from unions, corporations or individuals. Its use is restricted, although both parties have financed "issue ads" with soft money.
Figures are in millions of dollars. They do not include money raised by candidates.
