SAO PAULO, Brazil —  A bus ran off a road and fell into a ravine in southeastern Brazil, killing at least 10 people, officials said Wednesday.

Delamar da Cruz, spokesman for the Itapemirim bus company, says the crash occurred late Monday in Minas Gerais state. The driver apparently lost control on a rain-slicked curve.

Cruz said the driver and eight passengers were killed. A police officer later told the Agencia Estado news agency that another body was found in the afternoon.

Two others were unaccounted for, according to Cruz's tally, and may have drowned in a small river at the bottom of the ravine.

Twenty-two passengers survived, and three remain hospitalized.
