The mother of an Orlando toddler who has been missing for more than three months said a strong odor in her car was a dead squirrel, according to newly released documents.
Nearly 600 pages of evidence were released by Orange Osceola State Attorney’s Office this week in the case of toddler Caylee Anthony, who was last seen on June 16. The girl's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, is a suspect in her disappearance.
During a police interview, Casey Anthony's friend Amy Huizenga said that Casey told friends her car smelled like something died, that her dad may have run over something. She told her brother Lee Anthony it was a squirrel that crawled up in the engine before telling Huizenga it was an animal stuck on the front of her car, according to the documents obtained by MyFOXOrlando.com.

Police said earlier this month that there was evidence of a decomposing body in the trunk of her vehicle.
As authorities probe the police documents, the FBI concluded that a possible sighting of the missing Orlando toddler, who would have turned 3 on Aug. 9, at a Tennessee McDonald's restaurant turned out to be unfounded, the MyFOXOrlando.com reported.
Casey Anthony, has been named a suspect in her daughter's disappearance, has only been charged with child neglect and lying to investigators in the case.
She also faces unrelated check fraud charges and is currently at home with her parents on house arrest after several stints in the Orange County Jail.
Meanwhile, the State Attorney's Office is reviewing complaints about the money being spent on searching for Caylee.

At issue is the alleged misuse of funds in the Anthony case and possible charity fraud, but the office was mum on details, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.
On Monday, the protesters who have been a fixture on the Anthony family's lawn tried to force the family to confess that Caylee is dead.
The demonstrators believe 22-year-old Casey Anthony killed her small daughter and her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, are covering up the crime.
