Michael Douglas is set to play flamboyant entertainer Liberace in a new movie, Variety reports.
The star will play the rhinestone-outfitted pianist in a film directed by Steven Soderbergh. Douglas starred in Soderbergh's 2000 movie "Traffic," the paper said.
Matt Damon is reportedly in discussions to play Scott Thorson, a man who claimed to be Liberace's five-year companion and who sued the pianist in 1982 for $113 million in palimony, Variety said. That suit was settled for $95,000 four years later.
Liberace died from AIDS complications in 1987 at the age of 67.
