—  An Air India flight turned into a real-live take on Samuel L. Jackson’s "Snakes on a Plane," when a slithery stowaway was spotted under a seat, according to a report from Agence France-Presse.

Despite the efforts of flight crew to catch the snake, it gave them the slip and was never again located, the AFP says.

The reptile avoided capture and was last seen slithering into an air vent. After the plane landed, the plane was fumigated and the fuselage paneling removed, but the snake was not found.

An Air India spokesman denied reports the snake was a poisonous cobra, according to AFP.

He also denied that the domestic flight A319 was grounded, or its following Mumbai flight delayed, on account of the snake.
