Give Them a Treat: Dogs Are Extremely Smart, Scientists Say

Dogs are smarter than we give them credit for because human brainpower has affected them, according to experts who presented their evidence at the Canine Science Forum in Budapest, Hungary recently, The Sun reported Wednesday.
Among scientists’ findings at the University of Vienna:
— The fact that play-fighting rarely turns violent shows dogs know right from wrong;
— If one dog was preferred to another in tests, the snubbed animal would refuse to co-operate;
— Barks contain information people can understand.
“Even children of 6 who have never had a dog recognize the patterns,” said Dr. Peter Pongracz of Budapest.
