New York Woman Drowns During Honeymoon in Bermuda

Saturday, August 02, 2008

NEW YORK —  A bride from the Lower East Side of Manhattan drowned while honeymooning in Bermuda.

Ting Chen and her husband Ron were married last Saturday at a Long Island church.

The newlyweds were snorkeling Thursday during their honeymoon in Bermuda.

Authorities say the couple got out of the water but Ting Chen inexplicably jumped back in the water without her life jacket. The 28-year-old didn't know how to swim.

She was pronounced dead about an hour later at a hospital.

Bermuda police don't suspect foul play.

Last Sunday, 66-year-old Juergen Ausborn of Westchester County drowned while swimming off Pompano Beach in Bermuda.
