PUEBLO, Colo.  —  A Pueblo West High School teacher accused of encouraging two students to attack another has reached a deal that would allow charges to be dropped.

Daniel Sanchez was charged with reckless endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after the assault in December.

Prosecutors say he encouraged the attack in retaliation for harassment of another student. The students involved were expelled for up to a year.

Defense attorney Shannon Reed says the charges will be dropped if Sanchez meets conditions including meeting with the assault victim. Reed says Sanchez insists he is innocent.

Sanchez is a physical education teacher and coaches football and baseball. He has not been fired.
