Report: Angelina Jolie Needs to Gain Weight for Role in 'Thomas Crown Affair 2'

Friday, July 25, 2008

Movie bosses want Angelina Jolie, who is considered the favorite to play the leading lady in "The Thomas Crown Affair 2," to gain weight for the challenging role, the Daily Mirror reports.

A source tells the newspaper that "ideally they want Angelina to put on two stone [about 30 pounds] for the role. It is going to be very physically demanding, which is why they want her to carry the extra weight.

"They don't want a reprise of what happened with 'Wanted,' where she was fainting and they had to take her costumes in. She was also slated for being too skinny to portray an action woman, and for 'Thomas Crown' they want a convincing female lead."

The film, which is scheduled to be released in 2009, stars Pierce Brosnan as billionaire art thief Thomas Crown, a role he originated in 1999's "The Thomas Crown Affair." Dutch director Paul Verhoeven, known for his work on "RoboCop" and "Basic Instinct," is slated to direct.
