MILFORD, Conn. —  Milford police have arrested a 12-year-old boy on charges that he raped another child.

Police say they learned about the alleged rape while investigating a disturbance involving the boy in January. Authorities say the boy reportedly had been arguing about the incident with a relative.

A six-month investigation resulted in the boy being charged Wednesday with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. The case is before a judge in New Haven Juvenile Court.

The boy's name is not being released because of his age. Police did not disclose information about the alleged victim.
