Member of New Menudo Escorted Off Flight for Refusing to Stow iPod

Wednesday, July 16, 2008

A member of the "new" Menudo boy band was escorted off a Delta flight by security for refusing to put away his iPod, People magazine reports.

Carlos Olivero, one of the five band members formed via the MTV reality competition "Making Menudo," his mother and his four bandmates had boarded a Delta flight headed to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Star 102.1 FM Festival when the 18-year-old singer was asked to leave the plane.

"A flight attendant accused Carlos of having an attitude after she asked him to turn off his iPod in preparation for takeoff," a source told People. "Carlos complied and turned his iPod off, but the flight attendant then demanded he stow it. Carlos showed her again that the iPod was turned off, but he refused to stow it."

A Delta security official then escorted Olivero and his entourage off the plane.

A rep for Menudo told People that "we can confirm there was an incident on the Delta flight. The members of Menudo are on a plane nearly every day flying from one concert appearance to another so this took us totally by surprise. We've never had a problem before."

The original Menudo, formed in the 1970s, featured members like Ricky Martin.
