"The Hills" stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt went to an L.A. firing range on Tuesday to learn to shoot guns in honor of Montag's late stepbrother, Pratt told USmagazine.com.

Eric O'Hara, 24, had been home only a month since serving in Iraq and Afghanistan when he died while working on the roof of a restaurant in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

"He loved guns and always wanted Heidi to become a great marksmen," Pratt, 24, told USmagazine.com. "We're fulfilling his dream."

Heidi Montag, 21, who recently revealed plans to release a Christian album, said that she "just loved him [O'Hara] more than anything. He couldn't wait to meet Spencer."

Montag has created a fashion line, Heidiwood, and is releasing her first official single, "Fashion," in the fall.
